DÜNYA İÇİN 3 GÜN: DOĞA VE FARKINDALIK FESTİVALİ 2022 MANEJ / URLA
After last year's "Dünya İçin 2 Gün: Toprak, Atık ve Farkındalık Festival' in Bozcaada, a gathering took place this year in Urla for three days. When issues arose related to waste and awareness that didn’t sit well, a different approach was sought. Rather than focusing solely on waste, this year was about three days concentrating on various themes.
The initial focus was on 'conscious living and sustainability' on the first day. They pondered whether they wanted to completely restore the existing order or entirely change it, resulting in the theme 'Notice, Repair, Create' for the first day.
On the first day, under the theme 'Notice, Repair, Create,' we engaged with around 110 students from Asiye Hüseyin Science Primary and Middle School and Kuşçular Ova Primary School, discussing why we were together for the world. It was a fantastic day where the young ones not only visited an educational center established for animals but also had the chance to reinforce their newly gained knowledge through experience and play.
Moving to the second day, under the theme 'Waste: Recycling and Upcycling,' the program unfolded. Although the school participation decreased slightly, we continued activities with nearly 30 young individuals. Our audience was comprised of parents of participating youngsters and general adult attendees. This time, the program predominantly focused on waste, recycling, and upcycling topics.
The third day, under the banner 'Soil and Awareness,' was quite rich and comprehensive in content. Understanding the soil and feeling the need to be informed in order to appreciate and preserve it, we hosted our guests with various workshops and presentations. Workshops like 'Seedling Cultivation from Seed' by Büyü Bitki, 'Seed Bomb' workshop facilitated through Rotaract 2440 District, and a presentation on 'Soil and Plant Health' by Ender Mergan, founder of Gülderman Farm, were part of the day. Participants of all ages engaged in an unparalleled journey, experiencing the frequencies of plants with Bi'Avuç through 'PlantWave.' Meanwhile, we also delved into the workshop 'Food Waste and Natural Printing and Coloring with Plants' by Atelier Tenera. We joined a circle discussion named 'Everything Comes from the Soil' led by Nazım Tanrıkulu. As the day drew to a close, we prepared for the finale by listening to hang drums played by Serhat Acarlı and Öktem Aykut of AyaHangPan, closing with a presentation on 'Hemp: A Healing Plant' by Berk Sohtorik, the founder of Earthist.
After nearly a year of programming, even in the final stretch, it was a pleasure to be involved in graphic, photography, and videography work for this meticulously crafted festival.
